Leaf Lender expeditions is currently running a Special volunteering project in cooperation with the Leap Overseas of the UK.( in areas of Community, Environment, and Culture). Our volunteers take part in various projects such as environmental conservation with community-based youth groups to plant trees, preserve water catchment areas in the slopes of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro; take part in different community development projects such as repair of classrooms, Working with the Local NGO in educational projects to improve primary and secondary schools facilities, We also provide unique Cultural Exposure where our volunteers work alongside the local community in Coffe farms around the Moivaro Area, we organize visits to Masai Villages in and around Arusha City, etc.

Community Projects

Get the opportunity to take part in educational programs for children, take up renovation and building work, work with local NGOs in areas of Educational Infrastructure, Work in Children Orphanages, and organize sports/recreational sessions with children.

The best part about the community development programs is that volunteers can take up several different kinds of tasks in one project – teach an English class, help out in a childcare center, take art and painting sessions for students, and help with renovation of a school building, amongst other such activities.

Responsibilities at the project include:

  • Working on teaching and childcare in the local region
  • Taking part and conducting community art and painting sessions
  • Working with the local community on areas of coffee farming
  • Taking up construction and renovation of sleeping dormitories and classrooms.
Environmental Projects

Environmental volunteering is your chance to take part in protecting the ecological systems surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. We are engaged in projects in and around Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions to preserve water sources by planting trees and eliminating soil erosion of the land and desertification. If you love the great outdoors and hands-on work, then our environmental projects will be the perfect choice for you!

Join the Leap VIP environmental program in Tanzania to support the reforestation protected areas, sustainable coffee farming or maintain native forests in the slopes of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro.

Cultural Tourism Program

Cultural tourism in Tanzania started as a program to help rural communities enjoy the benefit of tourism sector in which they are a part of. Our program therefore besides being an effort by our organization to share and showcase the richness of the Tanzanian Cultures to people from other nations, it is also an effort and initiatives of our organization to take part in the Development of the communities in Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions that are directly involved in Tanzania’s cultural tourism especially in the rural areas. The main goal is that rural communities should directly benefit from tourists who visit their areas. Cultural tourism allows local people such as Maasai, Chagga, Wa-arusha, etc to offer tours that show their culture, their sacred places of worship, economic activities, for example, farming, pastoralism, etc

The income generated is used by local people for specific development programmes, such as, the building of dispensaries, schools and cattle dip sites.

Tour Overview:

This unforgettable tour will take you to the Serengeti Plains National Park, the heart of wild Africa and a massive wilderness of 14500 square km, where every day brings a new landscape and a new adventure. Your African safari will also take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife – inside a self-contained world featuring an unbelievable concentration of animals. Lastly, your trek will take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The size of this national park makes it perfect for a one-day game drive, and is famous for its unique tree-climbing lions.

DAY 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara

Meet our professional tours guide/driver in Moshi town, who will deliver a short safari info briefing, after which, we travel to the Lake Manyara National Park. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch we head into the Lake Manyara National Park. This impressive park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.

DAY 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti Plains

After breakfast we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is it’s dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here. In the afternoon after lunch start driving to Moshi in your hotel.
